π» I wanted to reach out and thank you all for supporting Holyrood Highlights over its first month. It has been a busy and exciting time, and I have learned a lot.
During this pilot period, I have been treating the newsletter as a full-time job, so that I can get to know it inside and out.
However, the time has come to think about how I can sustain Holyrood Highlights into the future while balancing it with life and other work.
π Primarily, the newsletter will become shorter and more streamlined.
Rather than digging into all the arguments made by each party or MSP, Holyrood Highlights will give the briefest of outlines, with links to transcripts (the Official Report), broadcasts (Scottish Parliament TV), or further info (e.g. SPICe and helpful news articles) for those who would like to find out more.
In doing so, I hope to make Holyrood Highlights less bulky while keeping to the spirit of the newsletter:
To make Scottish democracy more accessible for everybody, regardless of background, income, or vocation. π‘
To support the work of those involved in Scotlandβs civic life. π€
To keep the newsletter user-friendly, so that it is easily digested first thing in the morning alongside a steaming cuppa. β
So, thank you again for your support. Now is also a good time to acknowledge the brilliant community journalism that helped to inspire the idea of Holyrood Highlights in the first place, including:
β° The Edinburgh Minute,
ποΈ The Glasgow Wrap,
π² edi.bike,
π£ Members of the Scottish Beacon network.
They are all very much worth a follow!
Onwards to bigger sleeker and better things.
-Gavin
